Chris Gorak, the art director of some films with fantastic art direction (Minority Report, Fight Club, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas), is back in the directing game with Timur Bekmambetov as his producer. Sci-Fi Squad readers might recognize Gorak's name from the film Right At Your Door, which Peter Hall discussed as part of our weekly movie club. Gorak is tackling Darkest Hour, a sci-fi thriller about a small group of Americans trapped in Moscow during an alien invasion.

Hollywood Reporter, in an exclusive scoop, has named Olivia Thirlby (Juno) as one part of the cast, playing "a trust fund girl". The movie sounds a little bit like an ensemble version of the SXSW hit Monsters, but without more information, I don't know how much Gorak (who's currently re-working the script with Josh Zetumer) plans on balancing the character drama with the action. Considering Bekmambetov is producing (he directed Wanted and Daywatch), I'd bet there's more action than talk.

The film shoots this Summer, on location in Moscow, for Summit.
