I chose Invasion of the Body Snatchers for today's image and as I searched for a good poster, I found a great poster. I'd seen the iconic, widespread one-sheet -- the one featuring stylized long-shadowed silhouettes running across an aggressive orange background -- but I'd never seen the one I found for today's pick.
Yes, there are people running on it, but there's also a hideous, half-formed pod person sliding its way out of a cracked pod. It's a gleefully vile image, made all the more garish by its hand-painted detail. In this particular image, you can see the theatre stamp with the MPAA rating right next to the film's logo.
If you haven't seen Philip Kaufman's 1978 Invasion of the Body Snatchers remake, do yourself a favor and see it immediately. For my money, it's the most uncomfortably paranoid and unforgettably creepy version of this oft-told tale.
You can see the poster in full after the jump.
