My James Duval crush continues in indie director Ramzi Abed's (The Devil's Muse, In a Spiral State) latest film, Noirland. Gone is the baby-faced Duval from two of my favorite films, Doom Generation and Donnie Darko. Instead, he's a serial killer in Abed's "darkly romantic horror ensemble mystery."
There are some interesting players in Noirland with genre cred, including Rena Riffel (Showgirls, Dark Reel), Twink Caplan (Clueless), Jesse Hlubik (May, Violent Blue), Elissa Dowling (Dread), Ford Austin (Dahmer Vs. Gacy), Wendy McColm (Suzie Heartless), Eric Fleming (In A Spiral State), Lenora Claire (The Devil's Muse), Clint Catalyst (Portland), Hollie Stevens (Enter The Peepshow), Lloyd Kaufman (The Toxic Avenger), Adam Meir (In A Spiral State), Lorielle New (The Pit and the Pendulum), and Silvia Suvadova (Violent Blue) among others. The film is currently in production but due to wrap soon -- looking at a release date later this year or early 2011.
Hypnosis is the key to unlocking the dark secrets that a catatonic serial killer (Duval) hides. In order to free his last victim and revive him into coming to terms with his penchant for sadistic sexual acts, he is put under a deep hypnosis where the mysteries of his life begin to unfold.
Consider me SOLD on this one. What's your call? Dig into the trailer after the jump.
