Two teen boys with identity problems and a bisexual hacker with a large back tattoo highlight this week's new DVD announcements from the studios.
Starting on June 15, Sony will be releasing the Weinstein Company's Youth In Revolt starring Michael Cera. Somewhat overlooked at the box office after months and months of delays, you can now take a gander at a pretty funny film on DVD or Blu-ray featuring commentary by Cera and director Miguel Arteta (Chuck & Buck, The Good Girl), deleted scenes and audition footage. On that same day, MGM is putting out a 15th Anniversary Sinsational Editon of Paul Verhoeven's infamous Showgirls.
A week later, Fox is bringing their franchise wannabe Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief to both formats. Grossing just over $87 million at the box office, you can now bring it home on June 22. The studio also announced the Blu-ray release of The Illusionist on June 8. The Digital Bits is also reporting that Fox has confirmed that their Blu-ray plans for the second half of the year will indeed include The Alien Anthology, featuring restored versions of the four films and new special features (including Sigourney Weaver commentary) to accompany everything from the previous DVD set. Also on tap for Blu are The Last of the Mohicans ("the definitive cut"), The Rocky Horror Picture Show: 35th Anniversary Edition, The Sound of Music: 45th Anniversary Edition and Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge! and Romeo + Juliet.
