Remember the good 'ol days? Back in that time we like to call Two Thousand and Nine? When Sam Raimi was at the helm of the Spider-Man franchise and Tobey Maguire wore the webslingin' tights? Back before Sony pulled the plug on Spider-Man 4 and decided to reboot the entire series as a high school friendly affair with director Marc Webb? Remember how the villain was going to be the winged baldie Vulture and John Malkovich was rumored to be donning those green wings?

Yeah, I remember them, too. And today, we learned that Malkovich was going to be Vulture. Collider got the words straight from the man himself, as well as his view on why the whole thing fell apart:

"Well, I think a lot of the people who sort of follow that genre... I'm not sure, I never really spoke with Sam about this, but I'm not sure they - maybe the kind of fanbase, the fanboys -- either didn't approve of that character as an adversary for him to some extent...or maybe the studio. Or maybe that was totally unrelated to why it fell apart."
