Frank PiersonHollywood may be run by young guns, but there's a pedigreed old-timer who's poised to make a big splash -- again.

According to Variety, Oscar-winning scribe Frank Pierson will write the script for '17 Days of Winter,' a 3-D Korean War epic. And, oh yeah, he's going to be 85 on May 12.

Pierson, who won the original screenwriting Oscar for 'Dog Day Afternoon' in 1975 and was nominated for 'Cat Ballou' and 'Cool Hand Luke,' told Variety that he's been busy writing for the last 20 years but just hasn't sold anything. "I've been like everybody else in the movie business," he said. "I've been doing scripts that just didn't get made."
