Here's something I can get behind. Call me a cranky old codger, but I'm sick of looking at all of the pretty, young people in all of my horror movies. Every damned one of them has some third tier One Tree Hill reject with fake breasts or a perfectly disheveled coif. Sure, part of the reason I love horror movies is because I love seeing horrible things happen to these people, but is it so much to ask that at least some of your cast be of legal drinking age? (Another reason to love Bubba Ho-Tep, if you ask me.) I'll even go so far as to recommend that we see more senior citizens in peril.

Dread Central has the scoop on a flick called 'the Home':

A young man is nearly killed during a horrible accident that leaves him physically and emotionally scarred. To recuperate, he is taken to a secluded nursing home where the elderly residents appear to be suffering from delusions. But after witnessing a violent attack, he soon realizes that the screams behind the walls are caused by more than hallucinations, and the residents are being preyed upon by twisted, monstrous nightmares that lurk within the home itself.

Directed by Kristoffer Aaron Morgan and written by Eric Vespe (Ain't It Cool stalwarts Kraken and Quint, respectively), the flick is in pre-production and will go in front of the cameras this September in Austin, Texas. Considering that's my neck of the woods, I'm planning on infiltrating the production and/or pestering the hell out of them for scoops. Oh, and did I mention that it's Lovecraftian? Anything bearing the hallmarks of HP is like an aphrodisiac rubbed directly onto my third eye. Oh, and Weta is doing the special effects. Yes, the special effects think tank behind the Lord of the Rings flicks is doing Lovecraft!
