Hunter S. ThompsonFor decades, Hunter S. Thompson has been one of Hollywood's darlings. With high profile friends such as Jack Nicholson and Johnny Depp and high profile films such as 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas' and 'Where the Buffalo Roam,' the father of gonzo journalism continues to inspire filmmakers more than a half decade after his death. Case in point: 'Prisoner of Denver,' one of Thompson's final projects, is reportedly on its way to a theater near you.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, 'Prisoner of Denver,' which Thompson co-wrote with Vanity Fair editor Mark Seal, has been optioned by Motion Picture Corporation of America. Published in the June, 2004 issue of Vanity Fair, 'Prisoner of Denver' examined the case of 21-year-old Lisl Auman, who was charged and convicted for murder despite the fact that she was in police custody, locked in the back of a cruiser, at the time of the crime.
