mummy Dimension Films, the Weinstein Company's genre label that brought us Scream and From Dusk till Dawn, is bringing the Mummy back to big screen. But don't expect to see Brendan Fraser swashbuckling his way through another cheesy action-adventure flick.

The studio has hired Spanish indie filmmaker Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego to write and direct The Mummy Archives, billed as a lower budget (around $5M) and more artful creepshow in the vein of Paranormal Activity.

According to the Los Angeles Times, The Mummy Archives will feature a group of young (sexy?) people plagued by a mummy curse. Most of the action will apparently take place off-screen while the audience watches the characters experience the effects of the curse.
