[Welcome to the Sci-Fi Lunch Break, where we'll be occasionally supplying you with a cool bit of audio/visual goodness to break up the monotony of the work day. You bring the turkey on rye, we'll bring you something out of this world to watch while you eat it.]

Azureus Rising is not a real film, but after watching this proof of concept footage, you will wish that it were. It always blows me away what a few fans can do with off-the-shelf software, and this little stunner is a perfect example of just that. It was made by a group called Black Sun Entertainment (I can only hope the Black Sun portion is a reference to the club all the hackers hang out in within the metaverse in Snow Crash) and is pitched as a hopeful trilogy of films.

The official site details Azureus Rising as, "The story of an unlikely and troubled teen forced from his home planet across the galaxy on an epic journey. Eventually to return reborn as the freedom fighter known as Azureus." But really, none of that is in this proof of concept. All you're about to see is a badass ninja do badass things. Enjoy and please spread the word if you do. Hopefully this will see the light of day eventually.
