In the music industry, the job of songwriter may be the most thankless one of all. Oh, sure, if you're lucky you may write a hit that gets you some royalty checks, but no matter how gigantic your songs become, it's always the singer and not the song that gets all the credit. But that may be about to change thanks to a new champion for songwriter equality: Steve Carell?

Okay, so maybe that's not the most obvious candidate, but Warner Bros. seems to think it will work. According to New York -- the magazine, not the state -- Warner Bros. is in talks to acquire the rights to the story of songwriter Dennis Lambert in hopes of turning it into a comedy vehicle for Carell.
