Yesterday, Kristen Stewart was the center of a media storm for her comments saying that looking at paparazzi photos makes her feel "like I'm looking at someone being raped." Now, of course, it's time for the official apology. The actress went to People Magazine with her regret:
It's a bit more than the usual blank apology many celebs make, that's obviously and only made as a PR move, and I'm interested to see if she'll address the questionable use of the word "rape" in a future PSA since she has previously spoken in public service announcements for Security on Campus and RAINN. However, I find it quite amusing that she chose to give it to People, a magazine that's one of the leading names in celebrity obsession. Talk about feeding the fire. Ah well, one more celeb drama done with, though I'm sure the airwaves won't be quiet for long.I really made an enormous mistake -- clearly and obviously -- and I'm really sorry about my choice of words. I've made stupid remarks before, and I've always reasoned: 'Whatever. They can think what they want.' 'Violated' definitely would have been a better way of expressing the thought. People thinking that I'm insensitive about this subject rips my guts out. I made a big mistake.
