UPDATE: Producer Frank Marshall just responded to the Indiana Jones 5 rumor heard around the world yesterday with the following tweet: "The rumor about INDY 5 is completely false. Nothing has changed, we are not shooting next year and still in the research phase..."
Below, our post from yesterday ...
I'm still trying wash the bad taste of the last Indiana Jones film out of my mouth, so imagine my surprise when plot details for the fifth film in the franchise turned up earlier today. AICN pointed out that New Zealand website Stuff has the inside skinny on the next film's plot. Normally, I'd be suspicious, but Stuff is pretty reputable. We're still filing this under rumor, but the details are tantalizing and worthy of discussion anyway.
The article reports that the new film will be Ford's last, and a return to the series' roots (meaning less state of the art visual effects) after the last entry failed to resonate with fans. The big plot reveal in the article? Indy's going to The Bermuda Triangle: "Indiana Jones 5 will begin shooting next year, and much of the plot line will be centered around the Bermuda Triangle, an area over the North Atlantic Ocean where a number of aircraft are said to have disappeared."
