It was only a matter of time before Scott Pilgrim punched and kicked his way to the world of video games. It's a natural progression. First, the world of 1Ups and superhero fighting power infiltrated his Toronto home as the evil ex-boyfriends descended. Then the game world got picked up by Edgar Wright for the feature treatment in Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. And now, we will finally get the chance to fight alongside him.
But let's back up. For those newbs who still don't understand the Power of Pilgrim, it's simple. Scott is this awkward, space-monkey sort of kid who has a heck of a time with the ladies. Just as he starts to date a wild high school girl called Knives, however, he meets the super-cool Ramona Flowers and falls in love. Scott even manages to catch her eye, but it's not until they start dating that he discovers the catch: To continue seeing her, he must defeat her seven evil ex-boyfriends. Real-world city life meets video game worlds in a '60s Batman sort of way as Scott pulls out fighting moves and power no real young man has and makes his way to the final, epic fight.
Early word on how this translates to a game for us fans: "the building blocks are there for a game that could not only impress fans with plenty of inside references, but also draw in people who appreciate a good brawler with solid mechanics, slick pixel art, and high replay value."
