Well, that didn't take very long. Just three days ago I was relaying the news that Shutter Island screenwriter and Avatar executive producer Laeta Kalogridis was putting together a sales pitch package for Technotise, an adaptation of the Serbian anime Technotise - Edit i Ja that producer Scott Glassgold commissioned a fan-made trailer for. Two days later and Heat Vision are reporting that Legendary Pictures have bought Kalogridis' pitch for a low-seven-figures.

Not only will Kalogridis produce the film alongside Rae Sanchini, Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni, but she will be writing the screenplay about "a failing art student who decides to get a chip implant to circumvent studying but gets more than she bargained for." Glassgold and his partner Raymond Brothers, the duo who got the ball rolling on this whole thing months ago, will executive produce as well.

Having never seen the original Serbian anime, I don't know a whole lot about the film, but given Legendary Pictures' track record (here's looking at you, Watchmen, The Dark Knight, Superman Returns, Trick 'r Treat and Batman Begins), I think it's found a safe home.
