It's taken a decade, but I think the comic book superhero movie has finally managed to become "just another genre." I remember the good 'ol days, when even the smallest nugget of a rumor of a concept would be large, boldfaced, italicized and followed by several dozen exclamation points. Does it make me feel sad that I'm compelled to combine the news of Robert Rodriguez being pursued for a Deadpoolmovie and Mark Neveldine and Bryan Taylor attaching themselves to Ghost Rider 2: Spirit of Vengeance into one article because I don't think I can work up enough enthusiasm about either production to write two separate pieces? Maybe. But just a little.

Where does my lack of enthusiasm come from? Well, let's look at the facts.
