Ronald NeameBritish director Ronald Neame died Wednesday at his home in Los Angeles, BBC News has confirmed. He was 99.

According to the report, Neame died after suffering from a fall.

Neame, who also worked as a cinematographer, writer and producer, among other things, was perhaps best known for the 1972 film 'The Poseidon Adventure,' starring Gene Hackman, Ernest Borgnine and Shelley Winters. Irwin Allen co-directed the project.

Neame also directed Maggie Smith to a Best Actress Oscar in the 1969 film 'The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie.'
