Confirming the rumors that have been floating around for months, Jim Hill Media
is reporting that Disney has confirmed John Lasseter
as co-director for 'Cars 2.' The 3-D film, scheduled for release in June 2011, will be the first to have Lasseter at the helm since the 2006 acquisition of Pixar by Disney, when Lasseter was appointed Chief Creative Officer for both.
His most recent directorial work was on the original 'Cars'
in 2006, where he worked alongside the late Joe Ranft. It had been widely reported that Lasseter would not be directing the sequel, and that instead 'Ratatouille'
producer Brad Lewis
would be stepping up to helm 'Cars 2.' Now, Lewis will be working with his boss on the project.
