I grew up in the 80s but lived a fairly sheltered life when it came to pop culture. As a result, I haven't seen a lot of films that my contemporaries seem to consider classics. And even though I've devoted a reasonable chunk of my movie-watching time over the past few years to filling in these cinematic gaps, I still have a lot of ground to cover.
All of which is to say: I haven't seen The Ice Pirates (1984). Click through to see the stunning artwork that was used for the film's Japanese release. After you do that, do me a kindness and tell me whether you consider the film to be an 80s classic worth my immediate attention. Is it as good as, say, Starcrash (1979)?
