Take a look at the picture at the top of this piece. Take a good look. Do you think that's just space? Well, you're wrong. It's not just space. It's a remarkable image. It's showcasing the birth of a cluster of stars as well as the supernova of another. You can thank the Hubble telescope for that one.
But why am I talking about this? How this prove that we're all doomed? These new stars and the dying one are nowhere near us. It's not like they're going to fall out of the night sky and burn us in an interstellar BBQ. I think what I want to say is that this picture is further proof of how large the galaxy is and how little we matter in the long run. It's also a reminder that some day our sun will day and the human race will probably incinerate along with it. Woohoo!
