I'm doing my best to remain totally optimistic about Let Me In. I think it has a very smart, passionate director at its helm and a very impressive first trailer. But no matter how much I admire those two aspects of it, I don't feel I'll ever get over the mindset of how unnecessary the entire endeavor is. io9's exclusive scoop about Dark Horse Comics upcoming four-issue prequel comic, Let Me In: Crossroads, isn't helping matters any.

Granted, it has no bearing on the movie - Crossroads doesn't even come out until December, whereas Let Me In is set for October - it's just a nagging reminder of all the reasons people dread Americanizations. The American entertainment industry tends to over commercializes things and, in the process, over explains things. Sadly that looks like the course that John Ajvide Lindqvist's original novel may be destined for as it becomes a part of Americana.
