As Hammer Films gears up for a mysterious special event at Comic-Con this Friday, surrounding the vamp flick Let Me In -- other big news broke today that bespectacled wiz kid Daniel Radcliffe will be starring in Hammer's upcoming 3D venture, The Woman in Black. Yes, Harry Potter will be making a Hammer Film and even though I'm not terribly familiar with the Harry Potter franchise (aside from finding Alan Rickman as Severus Snape to be the cat's meow), I have to say that the bigger name talent attached to the project is making me even more excited for the film.

We already know that James Watkins' of Eden Lake fame will be helming the story based on the novel by Susan Hill, and that Kick-Ass scribe Jane Goldman is adapting the screenplay -- so Radcliffe's addition to the project seems to round things out perfectly. The whole 3D aspect of Woman in Black is something I can totally do without, but you can't have everything, can you?

Radcliffe seems happy to join the production: "I am incredibly excited to be part of The Woman In Black. Jane Goldman's script is beautifully written -- both tender and terrifying in equal measure. It is thrilling to be working with James Watkins. From his brilliant work on Eden Lake and also having met him and heard his vision for the film, I know he will make a fantastic film."

The Woman in Black is just one of the titles Hammer currently has on their slate. The studio is set to make a massive comeback with not only this film, but Let Me In and The Resident as well. Both of those films are due out later this year, while it seems likely we'll see Woman in 2011.
