Hold on to you knickers and stash away a few clams because even more classic horror is about to hit Blu-Ray! According to the lovely folks over at High-Def digest, this September brings with it not only the spectral brilliance of the changing leaves but also Invasion of the Body Snatchers (78) and Return of the Living Dead in high definition. The street date is officially set for Sept 14th and the MSRP is listed at $24.99. For full details, check out the original story here.

I must sheepishly admit that I have not seen Invasion of the Body Snatchers, but it has been on my must-see list for ages. As if being rewarded for my stalwart laziness, the first time I see this film will now be in glorious high definition so there is something to be said for procrastination. On the other hand, I back-flippin' love Return of the Living Dead and have seen it in standard definition more times than I can count. Actually, that's misleading. There is absolutely nothing standard about Return of the Living Dead from the vocally brain-loving zombies to its direction by Alien scribe Dan O'Bannon to Linnea Quigley's stimulating aversion to clothing. I can't wait to see all the gorgeously gross makeup effects in crystal clear 1080p.

The number of horror Blu-Ray releases already announced for late-summer/fall are staggering. Evil Dead, Hatchet, Humanoids from the Deep, Piranha, Psycho, The Exorcist, The Prolwer...the list goes on an on. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm as happy as a maniac on the first day of summer camp.
