We reported back in May that Francis Ford Coppola and Walter Salles were beefing up their long-awaited adaptation of Jack Kerouac's Beat Generation novel 'On the Road,' and now DeadlineHollywood has reported that two new stars will be hitchhiking onto the production: Amy Adams and Viggo Mortensen.

Mortensen will play Old Bull Lee (Kerouac's fictional stand-in for William S. Burroughs) and Adams will play his wife Jane, who's described as "the emotionally damaged junkie mother of two children" (quite a change of pace for Adams).
