Reno 911The folks behind 'Reno 911!' are now taking on the 'Star Trek' franchise with their own pastiche. The show will be called 'Alabama' and appear on FX. The premise is about the crew of the U.S.S. Alabama (a starship) and their misadventures in space, meeting new life forms and trying to bed them.

The premise has been done before on several occasions, from 'Spaceballs' to 'Galaxy Quest.' Hell, there was a cult series in that 70's that did something similar called 'Quark.' However, Thomas Lennon and Ben Garant (the folks behind 'Reno 911') will likely be able to add their own take to the concept. As with 'Reno 911!,' the show will be partially scripted and partially improvised. That should give the series some degree of originality.

It would be nice if other members of 'The State' (the MTV show from which most of the cast of 'Reno 911!' got their start) also appeared on the show. Perhaps they could be the aliens.
