If you're not familiar with American progressive rock band Coheed and Cambria (and I certainly wasn't until recently), you may not have heard of The Armory Wars, a massive sci-fi saga depicted in a series of comic books written by the band's lead singer, Claudio Sanchez.
What makes The Amory Wars unique is that each of the band's albums corresponds with one of the saga's chapters, narrating and expanding on what takes place during that segment of the overall story. The Wikipedia page for The Armory Wars has additional information about the comics and their interplay with Coheed and Cambria's music.
The reason I bring this up is that, to coincide with the release of a song called The Broken from the band's most recent album, Year of the Black Rainbow, a company called WeWereMonkeys created a music video that consists of an epic 4-minute space battle between hundreds (thousands?) of war-ravaged machines. I have no idea how the video ties into the overall Armory Wars narrative, but it looks amazing, and I'd love to see it expanded into a feature-length film. I need to know the story behind the dino-robots and that giant floating pyramid.
Click through for the video, and thanks to Quiet Earth for bringing The Broken to my attention.
