Remember a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, when Guillermo Del Toro of all people was going to direct the film adaptation of the ridiculously popular video game franchise Halo? I remember. I remember that from way back yonder in the year 2005. I also remember Del Toro leaving the project to pursue more personal endeavors. I also remember a Halo movie never happening.

Variety has a piece talking about the state of the franchise in general, with the newest game, Halo: Reach, poised for release very soon. Of course, the inevitable question arises: Will there ever be a Halo movie?

Sayeth franchise director Frank O'Connor:

"We're still interested in making an excellent 'Halo' movie...We've created an awful lot of documentation and materials to support a feature film. We have a good idea of what kind of story we want to tell, but won't move on it until there's a great reason to do it. We're in no particular hurry."
