Have you felt that lovely dip in temperature recently? Can you already hear the crunch of fallen leaves underfoot? Fall is coming, and a new season means a new tournament at Cinematical. Earlier in the year we we put together the Geek-Off Tournament, over the summer we let you guys decide what was the Best Summer Movie of All Time, and now we're going to decide who are the best heroes and villains of the big screen in a tournament titled simply ... wait for it ... Heroes vs. Villains.
How does one determine the best Hero or the best Villain? Think about it like you would a debate amongst your friends. To quote the endlessly quotable 'Stand By Me':
Vern: Do you think Mighty Mouse could beat up Superman?
Teddy: What are you, cracked?
Vern: Why not? I saw the other day. He was carrying five elephants in one hand!
Teddy: Boy, you don't know nothing! Mighty Mouse is a cartoon. Superman's a real guy. There's no way a cartoon could beat up a real guy.
Vern: Yeah, maybe you're right. It'd be a good fight, though.
To help keep things simple we've divided up our 64 character bracket. There are 32 heroes and villains a piece and within their own sides there are specific categories. On the side of justice we have Physical Heroes, Comic / Fantasy, Sci-Fi All Stars, Vintage Heroes, and Smart and Crafty. On the side of chaos we have Bleeders, Comic / Fantasy, Digital Villains, Evil Masterminds and Head Cases.
We'll be starting the tournament proper next week, but today we just wanted to give you a peek at our bracket and kick start the discussion with A) Who are your favorites? and B) Which hero and villain do you think will be still standing by the end of it?
