'It's Kind of a Funny Story' (opening Friday, Oct. 8), adapted from Ned Vizzini's 2006 novel of the same name, is the new comedy-drama from acclaimed writer/directors Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden.

Here's more on the film, which has significant buzz leading up to its release:

Craig Gilner (Keir Gilchrist) is a bright 16-year-old, stressed out from the demands of being a teenager. So much so that he is compelled to check himself into a mental health clinic. But the youth ward is temporarily closed -- so he finds himself stuck in the adult ward. There, he becomes very close with Bobby (Zach Galifianakis), who soon becomes both Craig's mentor and protege, and another 16-year-old, the sensitive Noelle (Emma Roberts).
