Idina MenzelIdina Menzel, the actress who created the role of Elphaba in Broadway's uber-popular musical 'Wicked,' says she's "too old" to reprise her Tony-winning performance on the big screen.

"They've already told the both of us we'll be too long in the tooth," Menzel said today at a press Q&A in Manhattan, referring to herself and her 'Wicked' co-star, Kristin Chenoweth. "Which I thought was absurd, until I was hired as Rachel's mother."

'Wicked,' a re-telling of 'The Wizard of Oz,' in which we find out what happened to the Wicked Witch of the West before Dorothy rolled into town, garnered Menzel worldwide praise and fame. The actress, who had already made a name for herself in the stage and screen versions of 'Rent,' also appeared on the hit TV show 'Glee,' as Rachel Berry's mother, Shelby.
