Triple-threat Neil Patrick Harris (actor-singer-dancer) will add feature-film directing to his resume when he assumes the helm of the indie romantic comedy 'Aaron and Sarah,' which has Emma Roberts and Josh Hutcherson attached as its leads, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The story follows a geeky guy and a popular girl who become friends as freshmen in high school and see their relationship deepen through four years, four proms and one funeral before graduation.

The film has had a long gestation period: The story, originally titled 'B.F.F,' was written by 'Pushing Daisies' scribes Chad Gomez Creasey and Dara Resnik Creasey and was purchased by Rogue Pictures several years ago before being picked up by Fox 2000, then dropped by the studio. In 2007 'Sydney White' director Joe Nussbaum worked on the project; David O. Russell (who just signed on to direct 'Uncharted: Drake's Fortune') was set to direct last year.
