UPDATE: Following the news yesterday that the cast and crew of 'The Hangover 2' revolted against Mel Gibson performing a cameo as a Bangkok tattoo artist comes word via Variety that Liam Neeson will step in and replace the troubled actor. Apparently Bradley Cooper was the one who asked Neeson to take it on after forming a close bond with the actor while shooting 'The A-Team'. "I just laughed my leg off when I saw 'The Hangover, I was shooting in Berlin earlier this year and rented it on the hotel TV," Neeson said, adding, "I just got a call to do a one day shoot on 'Hangover 2' as a tattooist in Thailand, and that's all I know about it."
Neeson isn't the most exciting actor, though he's built up a bit of an ass-kicking fanbase following his badass role in last year's 'Taken'. Could this part in 'The Hangover 2' show us a more comedic side to the actor? We'll see. Check out our original post from yesterday below ...
According to a statement from Warner Bros. (via Deadline), Mel Gibson will not have a cameo role as a Bangkok tattoo artist in 'The Hangover 2'. Director Todd Phillips issued this response: "I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of Jeff Robinov and his team. But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew."
