Getting the costume right is very important in a superhero movie. For example, we would never have believed that Christian Bale was Batman unless he looked the part. For the upcoming 'Captain America: The First Avenger,' due in theaters on July 22, 2011, the costume has already sparked wide discussion. Our own Erik Davis pointed out the differences from the traditional outfit; readers responded, mostly in the affirmative. But what about the man who wears the costume?

New images of Chris Evans may deflect attention away from the contentious issue of whether he's the right man for the iconic role. The images, scanned by Coming Soon from the November 5 issue of Entertainment Weekly, show Evans as Steve Rogers, obviously after he took the experimental serum that transformed him from a 98-pound weakling into the first super-powered soldier during World War II. As seen in the images, Evans looks good -- very good -- without a shirt.
