He may not have been able to sell 'Due Date' enough for the comedy to open at #1 over the weekend, but can Robert Downey Jr. sell us peanuts? That's apparently the aim in Planters having the movie star voice their mascot, Mr. Peanut, in a new Christmas-themed commercial. And not only does the iconic anthropomorphic legume now have the voice of Tony Stark (well, the actor who plays him), the character is also freshly interpreted in computer-animated form (slightly resembling the stop-motion style of Rankin/Bass) and has found some additional clothes to go with his top hat and monocle. He now wears a shirt, tie and suit jacket -- though no pants. His shoes seem altered, as well.
Check out the new Mr. Peanut after the jump.
