Cinematical has just received this exclusive poster for 'The Mechanic', CBS Films' remake of the 1972 action thriller starring Charles Bronson. In this updated version, due in theaters this January, Jason Statham plays a veteran hitman who takes on an apprentice in Ben Foster, except this new recruit has ties to one of our hitman's earlier victims. The film was directed by Simon West, who's previously doled out action hits like 'Con Air' and 'Lara Croft: Tomb Raider', and was more recently behind the camera for the 2006 remake of 'When A Stranger Calls'.

The poster itself, which, as you'll see after the jump, features the image of a handgun that is shaped using various amounts of other guns, actually doubles as something else. In one of the cooler pieces of viral marketing we've ever premiered alongside a poster, this piece of movie art holds a key to some other surprise goodies that you'll have to discover for yourself. All you need to do is grab your smartphone and download one of those spiffy QR Code Readers (here's a list of where to find one that matches your phone), and then use it to scan the poster. Once you scan the poster with your reader, it will unlock ... well, you'll see.

Check out the full poster after the jump.
