There are mortal beings and there are legends. Michael Douglas is the latter. After his cancer diagnosis a few months ago, some feared that one of the great movie stars of the past few decades was on his way out. It turns out the Doom and Gloom reports of his impending demise were greatly exaggerated: Douglas is not only well on the road to recovery, he's ready to play the famously flamboyant performer Liberace in Steven Soderbergh's appropriately titled 'Liberace.'

The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop: the film is set to start shooting next summer and the role will require Douglas to act behind facial prosthetics and undertake musical training. On the role, the Oscar winning actor says: "I've got a bunch of tapes of performances ... I'm thinking; I'm a blank slate. Everything shows me he was a lovely man; I just want to reconfirm that."
