Their two previous collaborations as director and writer are among the best films of the last 20 years. Now Spike Jonze and Charlie Kaufman are set to reunite, so long as someone accepts the pitch they've been circulating around to Hollywood financiers. According to 24 Frames, the plot is a secret and no script has yet been written.
But anyone familiar with their 'Being John Malkovich' and 'Adaptation,' as well as 'Synecdoche, New York,' which Kaufman wrote and directed while Jonze produced, might presume it will be another brilliant, mind-bending journey into self-reflexivity, to be appreciated on multiple levels. Or, depending on your reception to their work, another confusing art film to be dismissed as pretentious and self-gratifying.
