'Ripley's Believe It or Not,' a biopic focusing on the life of Robert Ripley, has been kicking around Hollywood for half a decade. The film almost went into production back in 2007, but star Jim Carrey's ideas to improve the script's dramatic qualities necessitated a major overhaul of the screenplay. The move cost the production director Tim Burton and a whopping $175 million dollar budget.

Paramount placed the film back into development at that point, but they've once again returned to the project – and Deadline is reporting that they're bringing some heavy firepower along with them this time out. Oscar-winning scribe Eric Roth is now onboard to refine and rewrite the 'Ripley's' script in hopes of getting the production moving forward once more.
