Aside from Eugene Hutz occasionally charming us with his mustache and singing chops in 'Filth and Wisdom' (his band, Gogol Bordello, is a lot more fun to watch), Madonna's directorial debut wasn't exactly earth-shattering. We announced last year that the iconic singer would be taking another turn behind the camera for 'W.E.,' based on the love affair between Wallis Simpson and King Edward VIII. Looks like we won't have to wait until the April Cannes selections announcement to find out that the film will not be completed in time for the festival.
THR recently confirmed that 'W.E.' will not be screened at Cannes in May. The film, which is currently in post-production, is expected to be part of the fall festival circuit. Next month, Madonna will be hosting a private screening in Berlin of "select footage" for foreign distributors attending the EFM.
