It's definitely not set in stone, but Marvel is looking to make another bold move in their continual search to bring new filmmakers into the fold by adding Shane Black to the list of directors they're eying to take over the 'Iron Man' franchise. Heat Vision reports Black is on the list, but not a sure thing, since they are considering other helmers too.
Black, like Joss Whedon, is a good fan's choice, though. Remember he directed Robert Downey Jr. in what many consider to be the role that helped revive his career, as Harry Lockhart in 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.' Black is also the notorious writer behind 'Lethal Weapon,' 'The Monster Squad,' and 'The Last Boyscout' -- the guy who got so big so fast, the industy almost swallowed him whole.
Word is they want him to write and direct 'Iron Man 3,' which would be a huge gig for Black -- a chance to pull his own "Downey Jr." and re-launch his career in superhero style.
