We've known for awhile that Christopher Nolan's 'The Dark Knight Rises' had a spot for two female characters, and with one down (Anne Hathaway is playing Catwoman), it looks like Marion Cotillard may snatch the remaining female role.

Reports over the weekend from a French website (via Batman News) indicated that Cotillard had nabbed a role, reuniting her with other 'Inception' stars like Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (not to mention her 'Inception' writer-director, Christopher Nolan). Now, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the actress is indeed "in discussions" to join, though because she's pregnant and due in June -- filming begins in May -- there could be scheduling conflicts.

If Cotillard joins, she'll most likely be the female love interest for Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne. THR says that other actresses possibly attached to this same role include Kate Winslet, Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts. No word on who the character is with regards to Batman mythology, though many feel it's Talia Al Ghul, the daughter of villain Ra's Al Gul, played by Liam Neeson in 'Batman Begins.'

Thoughts? Which actress do you like in the role?
