Yesterday evening 'G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra' actress Rachel Nichols revealed on Twitter (via /Film) that her character, Shana 'Scarlett' O'Hara, would not be returning for the currently untitled sequel. And not only is Scarlett out of the picture, but so are Ripcord (Marlon Wayans), Baroness (Sienna Miller), Hawk (Dennis Quaid), Zartan (Arnold Vosloo), Heavy Duty (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) and Cobra himself, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (no shocker there considering JGL's Hollywood star has risen considerably since the first film hit only two years ago).
That means the only characters fighting the good fight in 'G.I. Joe 2' will be Duke (Channing Tatum), Snake Eyes (Ray Park) and Storm Shadow (Byung-hun Lee). And this is really not a very surprising move considering the first film underperfomed at the box office, causing Paramount to replace the original's director Stephen Sommers with 'Justin Bieber: Never Say Never' director Jon Chu. It's also not a terribly crippling move, either, given 'G.I. Joe' has plenty of other characters to introduce in a new film.
