Rumors that Billy Dee Williams auditioned for the role of rebel hero Han Solo during the casting of 'Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope' have been around forever. More than 30 years later, the actor is finally going on record saying that this just isn't true.

In fact, he states that he never auditioned for any role in the Star Wars universe: "I never auditioned for anything. I was asked to play Lando and I said, 'Yeah, great, fantastic.' [Director] Irv Kershner came to my house, we sat and talked and got to know each other, and that was that."

The Cloud City leader did have a history with Han, whom he eventually sold out to the Empire under threat of Darth Vader. Later he joined the Rebel Alliance to help rescue Han from Jabba the Hutt.
