Guess who's coming to dinner?
People know David Hyde Pierce as the neurotic Dr. Niles Crane in 'Frasier,' but the multi-faceted actor can play evil as well (he played John Dean in 1995's 'Nixon,' after all).
Come July 1, Hyde Pierce will head up 'The Perfect Host,' a delicious black comedy about a bank robber (Clayne Crawford) who needs to get off the street and finds himself at the house of Warwick Wilson (Hyde Pierce) -- posing as a friend of a friend --where he discovers that appearances aren't always what they seem to be. Mild-mannered Wilson is getting ready to host a very interesting dinner party, and he won't let something as inconsequential as a vicious criminal sitting in his living room get in the way of his plans. Wilson turns the tables on the bad guy and the party gets under way.
Magnolia Pictures has released the first trailer for 'The Perfect Host,' and from what we've glimpsed, this looks like a fun comedy-thriller -- the kind that the doyen of the macabre, Alfred Hitchcock, would have loved. Here's hoping that the film holds up to its tease.
