'The Amityville Horror' is being revisited once again in 'The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes,' in which a team of investigators first break the story about the hauntings at the infamous murder site.

It'll be the first of several co-productions between the Weinstein Company and Miramax, the formerly battling studios who have now called a truce as they team to produce sequels to several Dimension properties. As the former heads of Miramax, Bob and Harvey Weinstein held certain rights to their original franchises, and without their cooperation, this sequel likely could not happen.

The new take on 'Amityville' will use "found footage" to tell the story of real-life murderer Ronald DeFeo, who claimed he was possessed when he shot and killed his family, and the subsequent hauntings when George Lutz moves his family into the house in 1976.

The Lutz story was previously told in the first 1979 film starring James Brolin and in a 2005 remake, notable mostly for its frequent showcasing of star Ryan Reynolds' abs.
