Though he was born in 1970, director Christopher Nolan is clearly a child of the '80s.

News broke this morning that Nolan has cast 'Full Metal Jacket' star Matthew Modine in the upcoming Batman sequel, 'The Dark Knight Rises.' We don't have any details on Modine's character beyond his name, Nixon, but speculation about his casting as well as that of Tom Conti ('Reuben, Reuben') and Joey King ('Ramona and Beezus') is already rampant.

Beyond this morning's excitement, Moviefone noticed a cool detail about Modine's casting: It adds to a long line of Nolan resurrecting stars from the 1980s and putting them into his films.
