Less than a week after announcing his documentary about Tower Records, Colin Hanks and his partners have already met their $50,000 fundraising goal.
How did they do it? (Other than dad Tom Hanks' deep pockets, that is.) Via DIY site Kickstarter, which allows people to contribute individually to projects they're interested in helping make happen.
'All Things Must Pass' (surely a nod to George Harrison's 1970 solo album of the same name) is about the rise and fall of the Tower Records empire, which was liquidated after going under in 2006.
Hanks and producing pal Sean Stuart tweeted the news earlier today: "In 5 Days, 2 Hours we reached our fundraising goal!!! Thanks to all the Tower Family and music fanatics out there who have helped us. This has been an amazing experience."
