It's fairy tale time for Ian McShane.

The English actor -- who stars as King Brahmwell in New Line's currently shooting 'Jack the Giant Killer,' will be taking a "reduced" role as one of the dwarfs in the upcoming 'Snow White and the Huntsman' at Universal.

The Rupert Sanders-directed film takes a revisionist look at the fairy tale by having Snow White (Kristen Stewart) escape the clutches of her evil stepmother (Charlize Theron) with the help of the huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) who was supposed to kill her but now trains her to survive and fight back.

McShane is the first dwarf to be cast; he'll play the leader, Caesar. Universal is gearing up casting for the other dwarfs, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film will begin production in August for an anticipated June 1, 2012 release.
