If you still haven't seen John Carpenter's 'The Thing,' you don't know what you're missing. Call us crazy, but it may very well be our No. 1 favorite horror movie and continues to stand as one of the most disgusting and underrated thrillers ever made. The upcoming prequel has some seriously big shoes to fill.

Universal Pictures has been pretty hush-hush about the whole thing, but now we finally have the first poster for 'The Thing' to admire. The story apparently takes place three days prior to the events of the original movie as a Norwegian team of scientists stumbles upon the wreckage of an alien spaceship in Antarctica and discovers an alien life form that looks to have died. But when it turns out the E.T. is actually alive and well, the scientists soon find themselves fighting for their lives and turning on each other as the alien begins mimicking the crew in an effort to reach the outside world. In a nutshell, it sounds exactly like the plot of the original movie.

We're definitely digging the similarities to the original 1982 poster, and it's generally a pretty cool poster in its own right, but we'll be taking a wait-and-see approach with this.

So hit the jump to see the poster in full and judge for yourself.
