Wild card actor Joaquin Phoenix, offbeat director Spike Jonze and surreal screenwriter Charlie Kaufman making a movie together? Now, that's news.

Phoenix is attached to star in the latest collaboration between Jonze and Kaufman, the guys who brought us the unconventional flicks 'Being John Malkovich' and 'Adaptation.'

It's an untitled political satire about world leaders who meet to rig oil prices, plan wars and commit other unsavory string-pulling. Production will begin March 2012.

The actor famously quit the biz to pursue a rap career and was the subject of the bizarre pseudo-documentary 'I'm Still Here.' He's already made his return to acting with Paul Thomas Anderson's 'The Master,' about a Scientology-like cult, which co-stars Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams

Are you happy Phoenix is acting again?
